8-year old Volodya Bubela was severely burned in a house fire on May 21st. Fortunately for Volodya, DCTOHC is well known to the medical community in western Ukraine. Local doctors contacted Gennadiy Fuzaylov immediately, requesting to have DCTOHC bring Volodya to Boston.
Gennadiy instructed them to secure the boy’s airway and get him to an ICU. He then contacted the Minister of Health and had Volodya transferred to Kyiv. After consulting with his colleagues, Gennadiy secured financing and coordinated the complex effort to get Volodya safely to Shriners. While this was happening, doctors in Kyiv were able to remove some of the damaged tissue. Volodya suffered burns to 75% of his total body surface along with areas of deep burns. Gennadiy worked tirelessly over a 10-day period with Childburn.org, Medflight911, Foxflight.com, Lviv Burn Center, Kyiv Burn Center and Shriners to make this happen. Now that he is in Boston, Volodya will get the best care possible.
